Diogo Santana Lopes selected for the 2030 World Cup

The Portuguese Football Federation ("FPF") and the International Football Federation ("FIFA") selected, from among several candidates, Diogo Santana Lopes as the Ethics and Compliance Officer in the purview of the Portuguese bid for the 2030 World Cup.

Portugal, Spain and Morocco jointly form the only eligible bid to host the 2030 Football World Cup, which will be formally submitted for evaluation by the end of this month.

However, the first matches of the competition are expected to take place in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. This particularity aims to celebrate the centenary of the first FIFA World Cup, which was held on that continent.

In this context, Diogo Santana Lopes will assume the responsibility of ensuring, together with his Spanish and Moroccan counterparts, the integrity of the joint bid.

Read below Diogo's statements in relation to this announcement:

"I am honored to take on this position, which allows me to simultaneously serve my country and participate in the collective effort towards a compliant and transparent sport. I hope this marks the beginning of an excellent work relationship with FPF and FIFA. Everyone's commitment is essential if we are to ensure that our bid is subject to the highest ethical standards."
